The Vologda region is situated in the north of the European part of Russia and belongs to the subjects of the North-Western Federal District. The region borders on the Arkhangelsk, Kirov, Kostroma, Yaroslavl, Tver, Novgorod, Leningrad Regions and Republic of Karelia.
